No more secrets, you are not alone.

THE AVERAGE AGE OF REPORTING CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE IS ABOUT 52 YEARS OLD

I am not a doctor, a therapist, or a university educated scholar.

I am however an adult with a child ACES score of 10/10.

In my healing journey I have learned the difference between PTSD and C-PTSD. The C=Complex. The difference between PTSD and C-PTSD is PTSD comes from a traumatizing event or time that you can put your finger on. C-PTSD is more than one event of trauma over a duration of time. This is a very simplified explanation of the two.

Let me be clear, PTSD and C-PTSD are both debilitating and two wings on the same bird.

At 25, I sought help for night terrors. We chipped away at the problem. We were looking to heal a specific event so that I could stabilize my brain to who I was before the event occurred.

We quickly realized that we had just scratched the surface of a severely abusive childhood. We were not able to rediscover who I was before a specific trauma, but we did start the journey of healing and introducing me to myself as we started piecing the puzzle together.

I began to see who I was and was not… I’ve been on an epic journey of self-discovery ever since.

Children are not in control of their circumstances in life. They are on a raft in the middle of the ocean left to the mercy of the weather while they unknowingly are supposed to keep a flame inside of them lit.

Imagine.

If you are no longer dissociated from your trauma and have come face to face with PTSD or C-PTSD, no matter what age you are…I am here to tell you that there is hope and help for you.

You do not have to do this alone. And the quality of your life CAN be improved.

No matter how old you are, if nobody has told you this…

What happened to you was not okay. You are not alone and it was not your fault.
